Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St.

Chicoco is one of the most innovative grassroots organizations in Africa. With inflatable cinemas and neighborhood radio stations, community cartography and local renewable energy grids, Chicoco is developing technologies of light and voice that allow overlooked urban communities to make themselves seen and heard.

With music and movies, Michael Uwemedimo will present Chicoco's work. Through the lens of climate crisis, decolonial struggle and sustainable urban transformation, he will explore plans for the project's next phase: how to imagine and realize a post-oil future in the oil capital of Nigeria.

Hosted by the Department of Cinema and Media Studies and the Nicholson Center for British Studies.
